The Story Behind Bindi Bindi Art

Bindi Bindi Art is a collaboration between Aboriginal artists Chloe Eastwood and Tay-la Shearley.

Chloe is a proud Ngemba woman and Tay-la is a proud Wiradjuri woman. Both artists grew up on Dharug land, where they have built strong connections with the Dharug community and continue to consider it home.

Chloe and Tay-la are both third-generation Aboriginal artists, continuing a creative legacy passed down through their families. Not long after they began dating, they discovered something special, their grandparents had painted together many years earlier. What began as a beautiful coincidence quickly became a shared passion. Inspired by their families and culture, painting became something they now do together, continuing that legacy through their own artistic journey.

Through Bindi Bindi Art, Chloe and Tay-la create contemporary Aboriginal artworks that celebrate connection to Country, community and culture. Their work aims to share stories, spark conversations and create meaningful connections through the magic of art.

Their vibrant style often incorporates bright colours, reflecting their strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and representation. As LGBTQIA+ artists and advocates for neurodiversity, Chloe and Tay-la intentionally use colour and movement in their artworks to celebrate the beauty of difference and the strength found within diverse communities.

Bindi Bindi Art has collaborated with organisations across Australia to create meaningful and culturally informed artworks that celebrate connection, community and culture. Their work often supports organisations on their reconciliation journeys, with artworks designed to visually represent values, shared stories and commitments to building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Alongside cultural and community partnerships, Bindi Bindi Art has also worked with a range of organisations and businesses to create bespoke artworks, installations and creative collaborations. Their artwork has been adapted across a variety of mediums including digital platforms, merchandise, large-scale displays and public spaces, allowing contemporary Aboriginal storytelling to be shared with wider audiences.

Through every project, Chloe and Tay-la remain passionate about creating artworks that honour culture, celebrate diversity and strengthen connections between people, community and Country.
